Because each parish/cluster community is unique, the same can be said of the youth ministry programs that take place within a parish/cluster. One of the commonalities for all parishes/clusters is that youth ministry programs should be grounded in the components of youth ministry as outlined in
Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry,
a pastoral document written in 1997 by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and published by the United States Catholic Conference. It should also consider the new evangelization.
The Diocese of Superior offers assistance to parishes for the assessment and further development of the youth ministry within the parish/cluster setting; using the “Youth Plan”, which has been adapted from other dioceses and further developed for use in our own diocese.
The “Youth Plan” is an assessment tool to help parishes identify what youth ministry efforts are already in place in a parish/cluster and to determine what steps should be taken to continue building and improving youth ministry efforts. We are prepared to visit you parish youth ministry leaders and or team, to help you parish/cluster through this process. (Note: Members to be present for such an assessment evening would be: Diocesan Staff Members (to facilitate process), DRE, CRE, Youth Minister, Pastor, youth ministry special events coordinators, parents, youth, adults interested in parish/cluster youth ministry efforts, and members of the pastoral and finance councils of your parish or cluster.)
Please contact Christopher Hurtubise, Associate Director of Catholic Formation and Youth Ministry to set up an appointment for the “Youth Plan” for your parish/cluster, 715-234-5044 ext 4403 or email churtubise@catholicdos.org.
